Differences Between LinkedIn Business and Personal Profiles

When using LinkedIn reporting in Sprout Social, the available metrics differ depending on whether you're analyzing a LinkedIn Business Profile (Company Page) or a LinkedIn Personal Profile.

LinkedIn Personal Profile Limitations:

LinkedIn Personal Profiles have the following metric limitations compared to Business Profiles:

Post-Level Metrics:

  • Post Link Clicks are not available for Personal Profiles
  • Because Post Link Clicks are unavailable, Engagements and Engagement Rate use a different calculation:
    • Business Profiles: Engagements = Reactions + Comments + Shares + Post Link Clicks
    • Personal Profiles: Engagements = Reactions + Comments + Shares
    • Engagement Rate is calculated accordingly based on the Engagements formula for each profile type

Audience Insights:

  • Audience Demographics data is not available for Personal Profiles, including:
    • Seniority information
    • Job Function data

Profile-Level Metrics:

  • Page Level Engagements during the selected reporting period are not available
  • Video Views at the profile level are not available for the reporting period
