Update to Repost Tracking in Sprout Listening
We’ve updated the way Social Listening tracks and visualizes reposts across X and Bluesky. Rather than displaying identical reposts as duplicate individual messages in your stream, repost counts are now rolled up directly into the original parent post as metric data.
This significantly declutters your Messages tab, giving your team immediate clarity on unique conversations while preserving complete visibility into virality and reach. This also improves data accuracy by better capturing the total number of reposts that have occurred.
With this update, you gain new flexibility in Query Builder to choose whether repost volume is factored into your overall Topic volume.
In Topic Insights, you can now use the Volume widget to see original post volume versus repost volume side by side, and drill down into post shares, reposts, and quote posts in the Topic Summary widget. Quote posts will continue to appear as standalone messages in your stream so you never miss valuable customer commentary.
As part of this transition, historical repost metrics are now attributed to the publication date of the original message, which may result in visual adjustments to historical volume spikes. All terminology across Listening has also been standardized to Reposts for seamless cross-network analysis.
