Bluesky Comments in Smart Inbox Overview
Table of Contents
Bluesky Comments in the Smart Inbox allows you to view, reply to, and manage comments that other Bluesky users leave on your owned Bluesky posts — all from within Sprout Social. This brings Bluesky engagement management in line with how you already manage comments from Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, and Threads in Sprout.
With this feature, you no longer need to switch to the native Bluesky app to see what people are saying about your posts. Supported comments appear in the Smart Inbox, where your team can respond, moderate, and collaborate using existing Sprout workflows.
What You Can Do
Once Bluesky Comments are live, you can:
- View comments on your owned Bluesky posts directly in the Smart Inbox
- Reply to comments from the Inbox reply layer
- Like comments to acknowledge your community
- Hide or unhide comments, and block users.
- Use all standard Sprout message actions: Complete, Tag, Task, Save, Email, Export, Translate, and Team Conversation
- Create Cases from Bluesky Comments for escalation or tracking
- Set up Automated Rules to auto-tag, auto-reply, auto-assign, auto-complete, or send Bluesky comments to Salesforce
- Use Reply Approvals for Bluesky comment replies
- View Bluesky engagement activity in the Inbox Activity Report, Inbox Team Report, and Inbox Export (CSV)
- Access Bluesky Comments through the Sprout Public API (Messages endpoint)
How to Use
No additional setup is required. If you already have a Bluesky profile connected to Sprout, comments on your owned posts will begin appearing in the Smart Inbox automatically.
To find Bluesky Comments in your Inbox:
- Navigate to the Smart Inbox.
- Use the Sources filter to select your Bluesky profile(s).
- Use the Message Types filter and select Bluesky Comments.
To reply to a Bluesky comment, click into the message to open the reply layer. Type your response and send. Your reply will appear as a threaded response on Bluesky.
To create an Automated Rule for Bluesky Comments, go to Inbox Settings, select Automated Rules, and create a new rule. Select "Inbox Messages" as the rule type, filter to Bluesky Comments under message types, and configure your desired criteria and actions.
