How do I respond to YouTube comments in the Smart Inbox?
You can use Sprout’s Smart Inbox to view, respond to and moderate YouTube comments from desktop and mobile. Sprout looks for new comments on the last 100 videos on your channel every 60 minutes while you're active in the app.
Note: Comments are only be available for videos published after August 15, 2022. There is no backfill available for YouTube comments.
For information about message types on other social networks:
From the Sources dropdown in the Smart Inbox, select the YouTube profiles you’d like to include.
Click the arrow to reply to a message.
You can delete your own comments or user comments. To delete a comment:
- Click the three-dot overflow menu .
- Click Delete.
Click Export Thread from the overflow menu to download a CSV of your conversation with a user.
Additionally, you can also include YouTube comments in any of your Automated Rules.
How do I review comments on mobile?
You can view YouTube comments in both Sprout's iOS and Android apps.
From the Smart Inbox on mobile:
- Tap the filter icon.
- Tap Sources.
- Select the YouTube profiles you want to view comments for.
- Tap the back arrow.
- Tap Message Types.
- Select Comments for YouTube.
Your YouTube comments now appear in the Smart Inbox. From there, you can tap comments to take action.
How do I moderate user comments?
Sprout offers several ways to moderate your YouTube page, including hiding/unhiding comments, reporting comments as spam and banning users. These features can be found under the three-dot overflow menu in the reply modal.
To hide or unhide comments:
- Click on the three-dot overflow menu .
- Select Hide/Unhide on YouTube.
Note: If you select the Hold all comments for review setting in YouTube, all comments get pulled into Sprout. Those messages are hidden by default, and you can unhide them in Sprout. If you unhide those comments, they are marked as published on YouTube.
You can also block the author of a comment. To block an author:
- Click on the three-dot overflow menu .
- Click Ban User.
Note: Blocking an author also hides their future comments.
