What is the difference between LinkedIn company-page mentions and LinkedIn member page @mentions in the Smart Inbox?

LinkedIn company-page mentions show posts where your brand's LinkedIn Company Page is tagged. Sprout has supported these since December 2022. LinkedIn member page @mentions show posts and comments where your connected personal LinkedIn profile is tagged.

Both appear in the Smart Inbox as the same message type, Mentions, with the standard reply and case-management features. Which mentions you see depends on the profiles you select. For example, to see only member page @mentions, select only LinkedIn member profiles in the Sources filter.

Note: Because of a LinkedIn API limitation, @mentions on video posts aren't supported.

Do I need to reconnect or re-authenticate my LinkedIn personal profile to receive member @mentions in the Smart Inbox?

No. The required OAuth scopes (r_member_social and w_member_social) are already granted on existing LinkedIn personal profile connections. Mentions will begin appearing once the feature is enabled for your account. No reconnection needed.

How far back will LinkedIn member @mentions be populated when the feature launches or when I connect a new personal profile?

Backfill is approximately 7 days (LinkedIn moves this cutoff periodically in batches so it’s approximate rather than exact) worth of member page @mentions at the time of launch or new profile connect.

Can I reply to LinkedIn member page @mentions directly from the Smart Inbox?

Yes. You can reply to both post mentions and comment mentions directly from the Smart Inbox. Your reply will be posted to LinkedIn as a comment on the post or a threaded reply to the comment, respectively.

Are LinkedIn member @mentions available in Sprout's reporting?

Yes. LinkedIn member @mentions contribute to the Inbox Activity Report, Inbox Team Report, and Case Management Report, consistent with other mention message types in Sprout.

Will LinkedIn member @mentions work with automated rules in the Smart Inbox?

Yes. LinkedIn member @mentions support the same automated rule actions available for other inbox message types, including auto-tag, auto-assign, and send-to-Salesforce.

Is composing posts with @mentions of LinkedIn member profiles supported (typeahead)?

No. Compose-time @mention typeahead for LinkedIn member profiles (selecting a person to tag in a new post) is a separate Publishing feature and is not included in this release. This release focuses on monitoring and responding to incoming mentions only.

Which plans include LinkedIn member page @mentions in the Smart Inbox?

This feature is available on Standard, Professional, Advanced, and Enterprise plans.
