How do I schedule a first comment in Sprout?
Table of Contents
With first comment scheduling, you can add a comment that publishes at the same time as your post. This is especially helpful when you want to keep captions concise, include links without impacting reach, or add extra context to your content. Sprout supports scheduling first comments for Facebook, LinkedIn (Company and Personal profiles), and Instagram.
Why schedule a first comment?
- Optimize reach: Meta and other platforms recommend placing links in comments instead of post captions.
- Add context: Share hashtags, mentions, or secondary details without cluttering your main caption.
- Stay consistent: Manage all content, including first comments, directly in Sprout.
How to add a first comment
In the Compose window, create your post for Facebook, LinkedIn, or Instagram.
Under the First Comment field, enter the text you’d like to appear as the first comment.
This comment will publish immediately after your post goes live.
(Optional) If you’re publishing to multiple networks, select Customize by Network to tailor the first comment for each one.
Schedule or publish your post as usual.
Things to know
- The First Comment field is shared across supported networks. Use Customize by Network if you want unique comments per profile.
- First comments support text, links, and hashtags, but can’t include images or videos.
- The first comment publishes as if you manually posted it from the native platform.
