Analyze Topics by AI Assist
Analyze Topics by AI Assist introduces AI-powered Topic-level summaries, an improved, effortless way for users to quickly grasp what’s driving the conversation within any Topic. The enhanced Analyze Topics by AI Assist widget in the Conversation tab now surfaces the top three conversation patterns and provides a concise summary of each, all within seconds. One of the biggest challenges for users is the overwhelming volume of messages on social media, where key insights are often buried in noise.
What does it do? Analyze Topics by AI Assist evaluates up to 1,000 of the highest-engagement messages in a Topic, within the Topic parameters, including the user-selected date range and top-level filters. Users can also drill deeper: each summary expands in the Message Explorer to reveal up to 30 representative messages that inform that insight.
Note: To enable AI-powered Topic-level summaries, the OpenAI toggle must be turned on in account settings. Please see this article for instructions.
How it works
Users can find the updated Analyze Topics by AI Assist widget at the top of the Conversation tab in their Topics. To generate a summary, click “Generate Insights”.
You need at least 10 messages within your Topic to summarize. Share messages are not included.
The summary typically loads in about 30 seconds, though it may occasionally take up to 90 seconds. You can continue navigating your Topic and switching between browser tabs while the summary loads. Topics with a very large message volume may require more time to load.
If your summary takes longer than 30 seconds, a banner will update to let you know we're still working to gather those insights.
Results
Analyze Topics by AI Assist will summarize the top three conversation themes within this Topic, analyzing up to 1,000 original messages based on how engaged they are. By excluding shared posts, we ensure a high-quality summary focused on the original conversations.
To dive deeper into the summaries, users can click on each individual summary to open the Message Explorer and see up to 50 messages from the Topic associated with that summary.
If you update the topic's date range or top-level filters, the summary will become out of date. An alert banner will appear with a "Regenerate" button to create a new summary based on your new filters.
Refined Topic Summaries
To summarize more specific conversations within your Topic, use the filters to narrow down your data based on what you want to understand. You can filter by things like positive or negative Sentiment, specific Themes, Message Types, keywords, or a combination of filters to focus on a particular group of messages.
For example: If you filter a Topic to include only messages with a specific AI Healthcare Theme, like "Symptoms and Diagnosis," and Positive Sentiment, the summary will give you a clearer idea of what people are positively saying about "Symptoms and Diagnosis" within the broader context of Mental Health.
Sentiment Filter
Updating the Sentiment Filter to Negative Sentiment gives us insight into what the negative conversation around this subject is about, to better understand the issue and as a brand, potentially highlight crisis cases or items that should be addressed by the Care or Marketing teams.
High Volume Topic Summaries Notice
Due to the current limits on the number of messages our summaries can include, summaries for very large topics may not fully represent the entire conversation. We will provide a summary for any Topic with more than 10 total messages (excluding shared messages), but please note we can currently summarize a maximum of 1,000 messages.
If you find that the summary for your high-volume Topic doesn't fully capture the conversation, we suggest refining your Topic. You can break it down into smaller segments using the date picker or Topic filters and summarize those sections individually to get a deeper understanding of the conversation.
Additional Features
Users can open the Listening Resources to learn more about this feature using the 3-dot button in the top right of the widget and selecting “About Analyze by AI Assist”.
Users can open the AI support page to learn more about AI-generated content at Sprout using the “Learn more” link in the bottom left of the widget.
Feedback
We highly encourage you to use the thumbs up/down buttons located on the bottom right of the widget to provide feedback on the summaries. During this beta testing period, your feedback is crucial as it helps us assess the quality and value of these summaries for you, which will directly guide our focus for the next release.
