How do I run a promotion on my Facebook or Instagram (Meta) Ad Account in Sprout?

Promoting Facebook and/or Instagram (Meta) Posts is easy to do from Sprout, enabling you to maximize your content’s reach. You can promote Facebook and/or Instagram posts from Compose, the Calendar and the Post Performance Report (Facebook Only).

You must complete the following before promoting Facebook or Instagram posts:

  1. Add a Facebook Business Page to Business Manager
      • Before promoting Facebook messages from within Sprout, you have to make sure your Facebook Business Page is added to Facebook Business Manager.

    If you haven’t set up a Business Manager account, use the following Facebook article for more details.

  2. Add a Facebook Ad Account to Facebook Business Manager
    • Your Facebook ad account must be added to Facebook Business Manager before you can promote posts from within Sprout.
    • Note: To find your Facebook ad account ID, navigate to Facebook's Ad Manager. Facebook provides an article describing how to find your ad account and ad ID number. You can also read this article to learn more about managing your Facebook Business Manager.

How do I promote a post from Compose?

You can promote any Facebook or Instagram post type in Sprout, including drafted, scheduled, queued or Publish Now posts. You can also promote posts that need approval.

To create a promotion in Compose:

  1. Click Screen_Shot_2022-05-11_at_9.04.47_AM.png to open Compose.
  2. Select your Facebook or Instagram Ad Account from the Profile Picker.
  3. Create your post with the appropriate text and media.
  4. Scroll to the Promote section, and then click Boost Post. The Promote Post popup appears.
  5. Select a Campaign from the Choose Campaign dropdown. Or create a new campaign directly by selecting New Campaign from the dropdown.

  6. Select an Audience from the Target Audience dropdown.
  7. Enter the Maximum spend limit for the ad.
  8. Enter how many days to run the ad for.
  9. Toggle Publish to page on or off.
  10. Click Save.
  11. (Facebook Only) Toggle Publish to page off or on if you want to use dark Posts.
  12. (Optional) Select any Publishing workflows.
  13. (Optional) Select any Labels or Campaign tags to include.
  14. Specify when you want to post the ad.
  15. Click Save or Submit.

Only users with Publishing Permissions for the selected Facebook and Instagram pages and the associated ad account can access Sprout’s Facebook Paid Promotion.

How do I promote a post from the Publishing Calendar?

To promote a Facebook or Instagram post from the Publishing Calendar:

  1. Navigate to the Publishing tab.
  2. Select the Calendar.
  3. Find the post that you want to promote and click Screen_Shot_2022-07-18_at_10.07.44_AM.png.

For sent posts, this action opens the Promote Post modal. Complete the form and click the Promote Post button.

For upcoming messages, Compose opens first, where you can edit the message, and then set up promotion through the Promote Facebook Post modal.

Once a post was promoted, you can quickly find it by looking for the Screen_Shot_2022-07-18_at_10.07.44_AM.png icon that appears in the Calendar. This icon also appears within the Needs Approval Stream.

How do I promote a Facebook post from the Post Performance Report?

Go to the Reports tab and open the Post Performance Report. Click on the post that you want to promote.

Click Boost Post and complete all of the fields in the Promote Facebook Post modal.
