Using the Canva Integration in Sprout Social | Sprout Bites

Table of Contents

In this Sprout Bites video, you'll learn how to build Custom Views in Sprout Social's Smart Inbox so you can stop reconfiguring filters every time you log in. You'll see how to save a filter set as its own dedicated inbox, control who has access to it, and set up Message Spike Alerts so your team is notified when a Custom View sees an unusual jump in volume.

If you're constantly adjusting filters in your Smart Inbox just to see the messages that matter to you, then let me show you how Sprout can fix that. My name is Jake, and in this Sprout Bites video, we're going to explore Custom Views.

A Custom View lets you save a specific filter set as its own dedicated inbox, like the examples you see in the sidebar. So instead of reconfiguring your filters every time you log in, you just click to your Custom View and you're there.

You can create a Custom View by clicking the plus icon or directly from your All Messages inbox. From All Messages, apply the filters you want — such as a specific profile, a specific message type like a DM, a tag, or how Sprout's AI has classified the message. As an example, I'll create a "Response Recommended" view, so when I log in for the day, I start with the messages where Sprout recommends a response.

Once you have the right combination of filters in place, click Save As in the top right. You'll be brought to a confirmation page where you can confirm your filters are set, then hit Save. You'll give your Custom View a name and decide who can access it — maybe just you, maybe you and a few teammates, or everyone in the current group. Once you hit save, the new Custom View populates and appears in the left sidebar in alphabetical order.

You can use Custom Views to surface high-priority messages based on sentiment or how a message is tagged, or you might build dedicated views per team so each group only sees what's relevant to them.

Once your view is set up, take it further with Message Spike Alerts — email notifications that fire when incoming message volume for a Custom View exceeds your normal volume. Navigate to the three-dot menu at the top of your Custom View and click Spike Alert Settings. This takes you to your inbox settings, where you can configure the alert by adding the teammates you want notified and dragging the sensitivity slider to tune how often alerts go out. Once you've set the sensitivity and added people, hit Save, then toggle on the Spike Alert for your Custom View. This helps you stay in the loop during peak times.

In short, Custom Views are one of those setup steps that make a big difference in how you work day to day. So next time you're in your inbox, do your future self a favor and build out one of your most common filter combinations as a Custom View.
