Hi, my name is Britney and I'm excited to walk you through automated rules in this Sprout Bites video. Automated rules are a great way to streamline your workflow. To create them, go into your account settings and under Global Features, click Automated Rules. From here, you can use an existing template or create a new rule in the upper right-hand corner. There are many different workflows you can use automated rules for, but for this example we're going to start with published posts. I want to ensure that any published post about our fall campaign automatically gets our fall campaign tag. I'll give the rule a title, select Published Posts as the rule type, and set the criteria: if an outgoing published post contains the word or phrase "fall campaign," then automatically apply the fall campaign message tag. This ensures I can report on campaign performance and that any post mentioning the campaign gets tagged automatically. I can also create a rule for the Smart Inbox. In this instance, I'd like to surface brand love messages. I'll select Inbox Messages as the rule type, and set the criteria: if the inbound message has positive sentiment, then apply the positive sentiment tag. This makes it easy to surface those brand love messages, report on them, and even amplify them if I want. Finally, I can create an automated rule for Cases. I'd like to be alerted any time there's a negative sentiment case, so I'll select Cases as the rule type and set the criteria: if the case has negative sentiment, then send me an email. This automatically alerts me so I can take immediate action. These are just a few examples of how you can automate and streamline your workflow — give it a try the next time you're in Sprout.
