Getting Started: Connect your TikTok Ads Manager Account

If you have not already done so, ensure you have connected your TikTok Ad Account in Sprout using the steps available here: How do I connect my TikTok profiles to Sprout?

Note: if you connect a Business Center authorized TikTok Ad account, you must have Admin or Operator permissions for the account in order to hide messages within the Smart Inbox.

How to Manage Comments in the Smart Inbox

Once a TikTok Ad Account is connected, TikTok Ad Comments are available as a message type filter in the Smart Inbox:

To view Ad Comments, you must filter using the connected Ads Manager profile, rather than an organic profile, due to TikTok API limitations.

From there, you can reply to and hide eligible TikTok Ad Comments received on your corresponding TikTok Ads in the Smart Inbox. Your replies will be sent from the associated organic TikTok Profile.

Note: due to network API limitations, the ability to like TikTok Ad Comments is not available at this time.

Additionally, replying to comments received by Business Center Authorized accounts is not available due to API limitations. This ad comment type will appear without the reply function in the Smart Inbox.

FAQ

What is the backfill and data availability for TikTok Ad comments?

Upon connecting a TikTok Ads Manager account, Sprout backfills up to 90 days of comments on ads that were active within the last 180 days. Comments older than 90 days, or on ads inactive for more than 180 days, are not available via the TikTok API and will not appear in the inbox.

How do reply and filter identities work for these comments?

Based on native and API limitations, the replying identity is always the TikTok profile (Custom Identity or Business Profile) associated with the ad post. However, the "filtering" profile in the Smart Inbox is the connected Ads Manager account profile. All reporting metrics are associated with the Ads Manager account profile.

Can I like TikTok Ad Comments from the Smart Inbox?

Due to API limitations, the ability to like TikTok Ad Comments is not available at this time.

Why can't I reply to certain TikTok Ad comments?

TikTok maintains a strict separation between organic and advertising environments. For comments linked to Business Center authorized accounts, TikTok restricts third-party integrations to read only, blocking the reply function for security reasons. In this case, you can monitor, hide, and analyze these comments within Sprout. To post a reply, you must use TikTok Ads Manager.

Why can't I hide certain TikTok Ad comments?

For comments linked to Business Center authorized accounts, you must have Admin or Operator permissions for the account in order to hide messages within the Smart Inbox. Ensure your account is connected in Sprout by a user with these permissions.

Can I access a link to view the Ad or Ad Comment natively in TikTok from Sprout?

Due to TikTok API limitations, you are not able to click the timestamp to view the ad natively. In this case, we recommend that you reference TikTok Ads Comment Manager for any native comparisons.
