New Instagram and Facebook Reels metrics

Table of Contents

Sprout added five new metrics for Instagram Reels and Facebook Reels content in March 2026. These metrics are available to all Sprout customers on all plans.

Where to find them

These metrics appear in:

Report:

  • Post Performance Report

My Report Widgets (PA only):

  • Post Performance
  • Post Summary
  • Post Analysis
  • Tag Posts Summary
  • Engagements by Tag
  • Tag Performance

They are not currently available in the Instagram Business Profiles Report, Profile Performance Report, or Instagram Paid Performance Report.

Metrics

Reels Skip Rate The percentage of viewers who skipped a Reel within the first 3 seconds of playback. Only available on Reels content, it will not appear on standard posts, carousels, or Stories.

Repost Count The number of times a post was reposted by another user. Reposts count toward Shares, which is included in total Engagements. If you notice your Instagram engagement numbers are higher than before, this is likely why.

Crossposted Reels Views The total view count across both Instagram and Facebook for a Reel that was crossposted to Facebook. If a Reel was published to Instagram only and not crossposted, this metric shows N/A.

Facebook Reels Views The number of views a crossposted Reel received on Facebook specifically. Also shows N/A for Reels that were not crossposted to Facebook.

Post Clicks (Facebook Reels) The total clicks on a Facebook Reel, broken into Link Clicks and Other Post Clicks. Fully supported for content published on or after January 1, 2026. Some earlier posts may show data where it was already available from Meta.

Data availability

All metrics have historical data back to January 1, 2026. Post Clicks for Facebook Reels has full, consistent coverage starting January 1, 2026, earlier posts may show partial data.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Why did my Instagram engagement numbers go up?
A: Repost Count now rolls into Shares, which counts toward total Engagements. This is expected and reflects a more complete picture of how your content is being distributed.

Q: Why do some metrics show N/A?
A: Crossposted Reels Views and Facebook Reels Views only apply to Reels that were crossposted to Facebook. If a Reel was published to Instagram only, these two metrics will always show N/A.

Q: Why is Reels Skip Rate only on Reels?
A: Meta only provides this metric for Reels content. There is no equivalent available for other post formats.

Q: Why did my Facebook Pages Report engagement numbers increase?
A: Facebook Reels Post Link Clicks and Other Post Clicks are now included in the page-level engagement roll-up for Reels published on or after January 1, 2026. Previously, clicks on Reels were not captured at the page level. The increase reflects activity that was happening but not previously counted.
