Advanced Plan: How do I create customized user roles?
Table of Contents
If you are an Advanced Plan member, you can create custom organizational roles to quickly add permissions that are specific to the features your Sprout users need access to, rather than applying permissions to users at an individual level. More information on Multi-Role and Preset Organizational roles can be found here.
If you’re not on the Advanced Plan, see this article instead.

User role FAQs
Certain users are listed with "Custom Permissions" within their Organizational Role and Profile Permission sets. What does that mean?
This will indicate that the user has not been assigned a set Org Role or Profile Permission Set, and instead has been granted permissions that fall outside the set roles in place. To ensure you are able to easily manage permissions and roles going forward, we would recommend updating your custom Organizational Roles and ensuring each user has an assigned role.

I see a role but can’t apply it to a user or modify it, why?
This could mean the role is a legacy Custom Role, which cannot be assigned to new users or adjusted. It could also mean the role you’re viewing contains permissions higher than your level of access. In order to apply or modify the role, you need the appropriate profile or feature permissions. Get in touch with your Sprout Account Owner to discuss.
