Setting up your Marketo connection
Before you can get started creating Leads and linking customers to your Marketo instance from Sprout, you need to complete the following steps:
This article walks you through the process to get set up.
Create an API Role
To create an API Role in Marketo:
- Navigate to Admin > Users & Roles in your Marketo account.
- Click the Roles tab.
- Click New Role.
- Enter a name for the role, and then select Access API to select all permissions.
- Click Create.
Create an API User
To create an API User in Marketo:
- Navigate to Admin > Users & Roles in your Marketo account.
- Click the Users tab.
- Click Invite New User.
- Enter your information and then click Next.
- Select the new role you created in step 4, and then select API Only in the Permissions step.
- Click Send in the Message step to complete the process.
Create a Custom Service
To create a Custom Service in Marketo:
- Navigate to Admin > Launchpoint in your Marketo account.
- Click New > New Service from the Launchpoint page.
- Enter a Display Name for Service, and then select Custom.
- Enter a Description and then select the user you created in the previous section from the API Only User dropdown.
- Click Create to complete the process.
Submit credentials in Sprout
After you create your API Role, API User and Custom Service, provide your Client ID, Client Secret and Munchkin Account ID into Sprout.
Locating your Client ID and Client Secret
To locate your Client ID and Client Secret:
- Navigate to Admin > Launchpoint in your Marketo account.
- Click View Details for the Custom Service you created.
- Note the Client ID and Client Secret.
Locating your Munchkin Account ID
After you locate your Client ID and Client Secret, you can find your Munchkin Account ID. To locate your Account ID:

Navigate to Admin > Munchkin in your Marketo account.
- Locate the Tracking Code box.
- Note the Munchkin Account ID.
