Meta 2FA Error when Liking/Replying to Facebook Comments
We can expect the following error to occur in certain circumstances when engaging with Meta comments in the Smart Inbox: “We are unable to send your reply. Please check your permission access in Facebook (including two-factor authentication)”
This error seems to occur intermittently when attempting to like or reply to certain Facebook comments in Sprout. In some cases, we have seen the error occur when replying to Instagram comments.
This is a known behavior that occurs intermittently within the Meta API ecosystem. We are monitoring the situation and will update our documentation and Help Center to reflect any future changes made by Meta.
We would advise attempting to send the reply or reaction at a later time in case this allows the action to go through on a second attempt, however, it is best to avoid multiple attempts in quick succession.
Drops or Shifts in Historical Profile-Level Instagram Views
Meta classifies certain metrics, including Instagram Views, as "In Development". Per Meta’s reporting standards, metrics with this classification are subject to periodic refinements as Meta optimizes its calculation methodology.
For more information on how Meta manages these metrics, please refer to Meta’s Business Help Center regarding Metrics Labeling.
Since Meta is refining their calculation logic for their Instagram Views metric, this can cause data values to change as Meta updates this metric. Sprout Social retrieves and displays this data directly from the Meta API. We provide these metrics exactly as they are surfaced by Meta to ensure alignment with their native reporting tools, which means our reports reflect any retroactive changes made by Meta to ensure we stay aligned with what Meta is reporting.
This can lead to one of the following experiences in Sprout:
- Daily profile-level Instagram Views between Jan 1 - July 1, 2025 may be listed as 0 value despite values previously being available within Instagram’s tracking
- There may be significant shifts with certain totals recorded for monthly Views when checking that same time period at a later date.
Unfortunately, we are only able to access and provide data as it is being made available by Instagram’s API within our Sprout Reporting. For any Instagram profiles recently connected in Sprout that are showing a 0 Value for profile-level Views for any dates between Jan 1 - July 1, 2025, this indicates that Meta has updated their own tracking for your profile and that data is unavailable on that date.
Please know that our Sprout teams are continuing to monitor this situation with Meta. Should Meta provide us with additional insights on expectations going forward, we will be sure to update our documentation and Help Center to reflect this.
