How do I detect and remove Spam in the Smart Inbox?
Table of Contents
Social teams receive countless irrelevant messages each day: spam, scams, and phishing attempts that clutter inboxes and distract from real customer conversations.
With Universal Spam Detection, Sprout automatically identifies these classic spam messages so your team can stay focused on what matters.
Instead of spending time building and maintaining keyword rules, you’ll have a reliable, accurate, and effortless way to keep your Smart Inbox clear of noise, freeing up more time for meaningful engagement.
You must be on the Advanced plan and above to see this feature.
Remove Spam Messages in the Smart Inbox
Turn on the Complete Spam Messages toggle in Inbox Settings to remove spam from the main view of your Smart Inbox.
You must have Manage Message Status permissions to turn on or off this setting.
Alternatively, if you don't want to mark the messages as Complete but still want to remove them from the Inbox, you can hide messages marked as Spam by setting up an Automated Rule. Use the "Has the spam classification" criterion and choose the Hide Message action. Automated Rules can be used for a variety of actions related to spam, aside from hiding the messages. For guidance on setting up Automated Rules, see the article linked above.
Change Spam Classification
If a message is incorrectly marked as spam, you can update it by clicking the Spam label or by selecting a new classification from the three-dot menu.
Please note, Reviews are not being monitored for Spam at this time.
How We Define Spam:
Sprout’s Spam message classifier identifies messages that have the intent to mislead, promote, sell or resell, solicit, scam, are universally useless, or definitively sent from a bot. These messages are often repetitive and low-value.
