How do I use Generate Translations by AI Assist?

Translate by AI Assist provides integrated translation capabilities across the Sprout platform. This functionality allows you to translate content for various purposes, including outbound posts, replies, and incoming messages. You can also utilize Translate by AI Assist to generate suggestions and content in multiple languages, enhancing your ability to communicate with a global audience.
Some uses of Translate by AI Assist are only available with specific plans.
Using Generate Translations by AI Assist in Compose
Generate by AI Assist translation capabilities are found in several places within Compose.
When generating posts
To use AI Assist to translate posts:
- Click the AI Assist tab on the right side.
- Select the action from the dropdown menu you want AI Assist to perform. If you want to translate your existing post, click Generate from Existing post.
- Select Translate from the dropdown when you have the post you want to translate.
- Search for the language you want to translate your post into. AI Assist also shows Recommendations based on your most frequently or last used language(s) for translation.
- Select another action from the AI Assist dropdown menu, insert the text after your current post, or copy the generated text to your clipboard.
When generating Alt Text
- Upload your image into your post.
- Click Add Alt Text.
- Click Generate by AI Assist to generate an Alt Text suggestion.
- (Optional) Click the Regenerate icon if you aren’t happy with the Alt Text suggestion

- Click the Translate icon

- Search for the language you want to translate the alt text into or select a language from the Recommendations list. (If you choose to regenerate the translated text, it will regenerate the alt text in the selected language.)
- Click Save.
When generating subtitles
- Upload your video into your post.
- Click Edit video subtitles.
- Upload a subtitle file or click Generate by AI Assist.
- Review your generated subtitles to ensure accuracy and click Save.
- Click the Translate icon
and select the language you want the subtitles translated into.
- Click Translate.
- Review your translated subtitles for accuracy and click Save.
- If your selected network allows only one subtitle file, delete the original (non-translated) file to only have the translated subtitle file.
- Click Save.
If you are connecting your uploaded video to more than one network, you are limited by the least number of SRT (subtitle) files allowed.
Using Generate Translations by AI Assist in Messages and Replies
You can use Generate by AI Assist within your Smart Inbox to translate incoming messages to your set language and translate outgoing messages from a list of languages.
To set your default incoming message translation language, navigate to Settings > Account > Personal Settings, Then select your language under App Preferences > Translation Language.
To translate an incoming message:
- Navigate to your Smart Inbox and click on the message you want to view/translate.
- Hover over the message and click the three-dots More Actions icon.
- Click Translate to (your language) from the list.
To translate an outgoing message:
- Input the reply you want to send.
- Click the Enhance by AI Assist icon
- Click Translate from the menu.
- Search for a specific language or select a language from Recommendations.
Using Generate Translations by AI Assist in Reporting
- Navigate to a report section that utilizes Analyze by AI Assist.
- Click the Translate icon

Using Generate Translations by AI Assist in Employee Advocacy
You can generate message ideas in the your language setting.
To translate message ideas:
- Click + Add Story.
- Choose the type of message you want to compose.
- Click Generate by AI Assist under Message Ideas.
- Select the message you want to include in the post and click Add Selected.
- Edit the post message as needed and continue with your post.
You can only translate your message to the language selected in your language settings.
FAQs
Does Generate by AI Assist translate inappropriate or “Not Safe For Work” content?
No, it doesn't translate anything the AI deems as inappropriate or “Not Safe For Work.” These are parameters set up within the AI.
What happens if a post contains a lot of “non-words” like gibberish?
If a post contains non-words, you will get an error message.
