Unavailable Listening data

This feature is only available for Social Listening customers.

You may run into a situation where your Listening Insights don’t show data. There are two reasons why this can happen:

  1. If no messages match your Listening Topic Query parameters 
  2. If no messages contain particular metadata (think age, gender or location)

Let’s explore how this can happen and how to fix it.

If no messages match your Listening Topic Query parameters, you won’t see any data in your Topic Insights. To avoid this, make sure to always preview your Topic Query before you start listening. This way you can make sure that messages do match your query and make any adjustments before you start listening.

If messages don’t contain metadata that match what Listening Insights show, then you won’t see data in certain sections of your Topic Insights. There isn’t anything wrong with your query, just know that messages might not contain all of the metadata Sprout listens for.

For example, a message might not contain the age, gender or location of the user who crafted the message. While you might see this message’s data in other areas of the Listening Insights (think Performance), you won’t see data in the Demographics chart for age, gender or location.
