How do I make an Organic only report?

Whether you only manage Organic social or need to focus on Organic performance, combining both Paid and Organic results in one view can be overwhelming. To make Organic-only reporting more manageable, My Reports offers several customization options to ensure you can track the metrics that matter most to you without the clutter of Paid data.

This article will walk you through the steps to build a report in My Reports that focuses exclusively on Organic social data, from choosing the right widgets to filtering out Paid content.

You must be a Premium Analytics user to have access to My Reports. Contact your Sprout rep to learn more about Premium Analytics and how to unlock additional filters and widgets to get the most out of your reporting.

To generate a report that focuses exclusively on organic social data across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and more, follow these steps to customize your widgets and isolate organic metrics.

Post-Level Reporting: Analyze cross-channel performance at the post level to understand what resonates and why. Activity is shown on posts that were published during the selected timeframe. This reflects the lifetime performance of the post. (Provided in your timezone)

For post-level data across platforms, you can customize your reports to show only organic metrics using specific widgets:

  1. Facebook (Post Level)
    • Use the Post Summary, Post Performance or Post Analysis widget.
    • These widgets allow you to exclude any paid or boosted results, leaving only organic data.
  2. Instagram (Post Level)
    • Use the Post Summary, Post Performance or Post Analysis widget.
    • These widgets provide organic-only results.
  3. LinkedIn (Post Level)
    • Use the Post Summary, Post Performance or Post Analysis widget for organic-only data.
  4. X (Post Level)
    • For post-level reporting, use the Post Summary, Post Performance or Post Analysis widgets.
    • Organic-only metrics available:
      • Impressions
      • Post Link Clicks
      • Video Views
    • Engagements are reported as a total metric, and there is currently no way to separate Paid from Organic due to API limitations.
  5. Threads (Post Level)
    • Use the Post Summary, Post Performance or Post Analysis widget to access organic-only metrics.
  6. TikTok (Post Level)
    • TikTok only reports total data at the post level, so no organic filtering is available.
  7. YouTube (Post Level)
    • Like TikTok, YouTube provides total data at the post level with no separation for organic vs. paid.

Profile-Level Reporting: Access a high-level overview of performance across all connected profiles to quickly evaluate social growth.  Reporting Period Activity displays the activity that took place during the selected date range.

Please note, all ad accounts need to be connected to Sprout Social in order to unlock all of these metrics.
