How do I create Automated Rules with Rule Templates?
Rule Templates are only available on the Advanced Plan.
If you're not sure where to start with your Automated Rules, use a Rule Template. Rule Templates are pre-built rules that populate the name, description, criteria and actions for common flows to get you started.
You can use Sprout’s Automated Rules to create systems for categorizing and measuring your inbound messages, including reviews, in the Smart Inbox and outgoing posts. To learn more about Automated Rules, click here.
What Rule Templates are available?
Here is a list of all the Rule Templates:
Name of Rule Template | Description of Rule |
Create cases from private messages | Send private messages to an agent to ensure prompt responses. |
Create cases from negative public messages | Send public messages with negative sentiment to an agent for quick resolution. |
Tag messages | Provide your team with context, enable reporting, and facilitate filtering. |
Alert users | Notify certain users or send push notifications for particular incoming messages. |
Update case status to Open | Prevent message oversight by auto-updating the case status to "Open" on new messages. |
Remove case messages from Inbox | Complete case-related messages to keep the inbox clutter-free and easily focus on what matters. |
Create cases from bot Quick Replies | Generate cases when users mention specific words or phrases in bot Quick Replies. |
Send to Salesforce | Send messages to Salesforce if it contains specific words or phrases. |
How do I create an Automated Rule with a template?
To create a rule with a Rule Template:
You must have the Manage Advanced Inbox Features Permission enabled.

Navigate to your name > Settings.

Click Automated Rules under Global Features. The Automated Rules page opens.

Decide whether to use a Rule Template or Create New Rule from scratch.

Choose a template and continue customizing your automated rule. Update the title and add the required fields.

Click Save. Your rule is created and starts applying to new messages.
