Facebook Page Followers for New Page Experience
On June 10, 2024, Sprout verified that Meta has resolved discrepancies with Facebook Followers metrics provided in Meta’s API previously affected the following reports:
- Facebook Pages Report
- Profile Performance Report
- Competitor Report
- Facebook Competitors Report
This long-standing issue was created by Meta’s migration of Facebook Pages to the New Page Experience in June of 2023. With that change, Sprout identified that the daily Follower counts returned by Meta’s API were significantly inaccurate (as compared to the Follower count provided within Meta’s reporting suite), though the values would become more normalized after 48 hours. After troubleshooting the issue with Meta, we were informed that there would not be a near-term fix, so we implemented a 48-hour delay for retrieving FB Followers counts to minimize confusion within Sprout’s reports. In addition, we found that some Follower counts still remained significantly inaccurate after the 48-hour delay.
As of June 10, 2024, we have verified that the daily Followers counts being provided by the Meta API are consistent with Followers counts found in Meta’s reporting. Going forward, Followers counts will be updated daily, with no 48-hour delay on Sprout’s side. Additionally, all Followers values going back to January 1st, 2023 have been updated in Sprout to the newly provided correct values from Meta for owned profiles only.
