How do I create Advocacy Stories from my Sprout posts?
You can create Employee Advocacy Stories from the Sprout app in Compose.
Note: You can only create Advocacy Stories from LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter.
Create photo stories
If you are creating a post to share and the images you select fit the parameters of a social network, you can seamlessly create image posts with one step.
For applicable image posts, a Send to Advocacy button automatically appears with the appropriate networks selected for you to share on.
To automatically create photo stories to share to Employee Advocacy:

Navigate to Compose .
Note: The ability to post is tied to Sprout permissions, not permissions in Employee Advocacy.
- Select the profiles you want to create a post for. Choose from LinkedIn, X, Facebook or Instagram Business.
- Add your images to the post. If the images you use fit the following criteria, then the Create Advocacy Story button appears.
Network Limitations LinkedIn - File Size: 5MB or less
X - File Size: 5MB or less
Facebook Business Pages - File Size: 5MB or less
Instagram Business Profiles - File Size: 5MB or less
- Aspect Ratio: between 4:5 to 1.91:1
- Click Create Advocacy Story. The Send to Advocacy popup appears.
- Select the networks you want to share to. Based on your image criteria, supported networks automatically appear.
- Select your Curator.
- Enter a Story Title.
- Select your Post Date. If you select When published to network, Sprout creates an active reshare LinkedIn Employee Advocacy post. If you select On future date, Sprout creates a draft Employee Advocacy post.

Click Save.
The reshared Story appears in the Sources feed. From there you can share the Story with your employees by following the steps here.
Reshare LinkedIn posts
To reshare a LinkedIn post from Sprout:
Note: You’ll need to have your Employee Advocacy account connected to your Sprout Social account and Send to Advocacy will need to be enabled. Contact Support if you need assistance connecting your accounts.

Navigate to Compose .
Note: The ability to post is tied to Sprout permissions, not permissions in Employee Advocacy.
- Select your LinkedIn profile from the profile picker. You can only post from a single LinkedIn profile.
- Compose your post.
- Select a single date and time to post. You can only select a single date and time to send LinkedIn posts to Employee Advocacy, not multiple dates or times.
- Click Create Advocacy Story.

Fill out the Advocacy fields with your desired information.
Note: Any fields that are required in Employee Advocacy (e.g. Advocacy Topics) are also required here.
- Select your Post Date. If you select When published to network, Sprout will create an active reshare LinkedIn Employee Advocacy post. If you select On future date, Sprout will create a draft Employee Advocacy post.
Once you enter your details and click Save, you’ll see a preview and summary of your post.
The reshared Story appears in the Sources feed. From there you can share the Story with your employees by following the steps here.
Reshare links
You can also create an Advocacy Story from an attached link if you’re drafting a Facebook or LinkedIn post in Sprout.
To create an Advocacy link Story:
- Navigate to Compose .
- Select your LinkedIn and/or Facebook profile from the profile picker.
- Compose your post. Once you paste your link, the attached link window will appear.
- Click Create Advocacy Story.
- If you’re posting to LinkedIn, you can choose to post a LinkedIn reshare or a link Story. Facebook posts will automatically post as link Stories.
Note: Any original URL parameters will be replaced with Advocacy settings. For example, if the original URL has a utm_source=blog, that parameter will be replaced with utm_source=advocacy.
The reshared Story appears in the Sources feed. From there you can share the Story with your employees by following the steps here.
Reshare Tweets
You can share Tweets to Advocacy when you’re drafting a post in Compose.
To create an Advocacy Story from a Tweet in Sprout:
- Navigate to Compose .
- Select your X profile from the profile picker.
- Compose your post.
- Select a date and time to post.
- Click Create Advocacy Story.
- Fill out the Advocacy fields with your desired information.
- Click Save. You’ll see a preview and summary of your post.
The reshared Story appears in the Sources feed. From there you can share the Story with your employees by following the steps here.
