You can post or schedule Instagram Stories using the Sprout Social mobile app publishing workflow.
Use this workflow to compose your story post within Sprout’s desktop or mobile app, and then send that post to publish via your mobile device. When the story post is sent, a notification appears on Sprout’s mobile app, prompting you to complete the publishing process.

Designating an Instagram Publisher
You can designate a user to act as your Instagram publisher, so that they’re responsible for publishing the story post to Instagram. Any Sprout user that appears in the Instagram Publisher pop-up list in the Compose window has full publishing permission for that Instagram profile and has Instagram notifications enabled in the Sprout mobile app.
If a team member disables push notifications on their mobile device, they won’t appear in the Instagram Publisher list.
Note: You can only select one person as a publisher. You can only change publishers prior to the scheduled post time by editing the post.
Completing the Story Publishing Action on iOS
- Open an Instagram publishing notification in the Sprout app.
- Tap Share on Instagram at the bottom of the screen. A prompt appears reminding the publisher to check the Instagram Profile to verify its correct.
- Tap Ok I’m ready to post once the profile is verified.
- Tap Story to share the content to the profile’s story.
Use the Post Performance Report to verify that your post was published successfully.
Note: If publishing wasn't completed, but the post was opened in Instagram, you can access and resend the post from Sprout in either the Reminders tab in Publishing or in the Notification Center.
