Influencer Marketing: How can I verify if a creator’s profile is authenticated?

Table of Contents

When a creator opts into or authenticates their profile with Influencer Marketing, both Influencer Marketing and the brand that hired the creator will gain access to first-party post metrics.

Profile authentication ensures brands and agencies can automatically pull content and performance metrics from the creators that belong to a campaign.

Confirming a Profile is authenticated

To confirm a Profile is authenticated:

  1. From a Creator List, click on a profile and navigate to the Details tab.
  2. Scroll down to the Social Platforms section.
  3. Check the authentication status for each of the creator’s profiles.

There are several ways to evaluate the status of a creator’s profile, with three types of indicators that let you know the level of data available for each tier.

The three indicators are:

  • Red: Instagram Account is a Public Personal Account
    • Influencer Marketing can't access up-to-date post or engagement rate data for Profiles connected to a personal account. Creators need to convert their Instagram Account to a Creator/Business Account. You can still hire Creators with a red indicator, though all of their content and metrics must be added manually to the Campaign Summary.
  • Yellow: Instagram Account is a Public Creator/Business Account
    • Influencer Marketing can access up-to-date in-feed post and engagement rate data via the public API, and Creators can authorize their Instagram Account in the Creator Hub. But a Creator's Stories, Impressions, and Reach data can't be accessed until they opt-in/authenticate into Sprout Social Influencer Marketing.
  • Green: Instagram Account is Authorized
    • Creators have a public Instagram Creator/Business Account and authorized their Instagram Account on the Creator Hub. Opting in gives Influencer Marketing access to Creators' Stories, Impressions, and Reach data (via the Insights API) for 60 days from the point that the Creator opted-in.

How do I filter Creators?

You can filter creators within a campaign according to their authentication status by clicking the filter icon > + Add Filters > Instagram Account Type. Then, select an authentication status to view all Creators that fall under that category.

You can also filter according to the Instagram Insight Status. This provides insights into whether the Creator ever authenticated before, how long ago they did, and if their 60-day authentication is going to expire. To check this information:

  1. View Creators within a Campaign by clicking the Creators tab.
  2. Scroll to the left until you see Instagram Insight.
  3. Scroll to the left until you see Instagram Insights.
