How do I use Content Approval in Sprout Social Influencer Marketing?

Content Approval Flow is a tool used to manage Planned Content for Creators within a Campaign or Project.

This article contains the following sections:

Creating a Post Draft

1. Within your Project and Campaign, click the Content Approval tab.

2. Click the Plan Content button.

3. Create your Post Draft by choosing the Group and Creator for which you want to create a Post Draft.

4. Select the details of the Post such as its Platform, Content Type, Due Date, Links etc.

If a Creator is Hired, Post Drafts are automatically created once Content is added into a Creator’s Planned Content section.

After creating a Post Draft, you are ready to cooperate with the Creator. You can either skip all Content Approval Phases, add Content on your own, or request the Creator to add Content.

Adding content

After selecting Add Content, you can upload the Content to be approved. When doing so, you’re also prompted to add a caption for the Post.

Requesting content

After selecting Request Content, the Creator is notified and prompted to share their Content.

Once the Creator submits the Content, you have the following options to choose from:

  • Approve or Reject the piece of Content in Internal Review

  • Send the piece of Content to a Collaborator

  • Request the Creator to post the content

  • Add more Content to this Post Draft

If there are no Collaborators in the Campaign, the option to send Content for Collaborator Review won't be present.

Requesting the Creator to post content

You can request for the Creator to post Content whenever you feel it's ready by selecting Request Creator. Once pressed, the Creator receives a notification to post the requested content.

After posting the Content and pulling it into Sprout Social Influencer Marketing, the Creator can complete it by linking the Post Draft with the pulled piece of Content.

Finalizing the content

After the content is posted and Completed, you can finalize the Post Draft. Once finalized, the Post Draft will look similar to the Post below

Concept Phase

The Concept phase serves as the brainstorming before uploading actual content. Once the posts have been created (either through the Proposal or manually added), select the post where a Concept is waiting to be uploaded.

You can request a Concept or add a Concept. After the Concept has been uploaded, the review process begins.

Request Concept or Add Concept

Request Concept prompts Creators to log in to the Creator portal and upload a Concept.

Add Concept populates a space for you to provide the content description, the desired caption, any products required in the post, designate a post location, and/or attach a file. This information is then sent to the Creator as an outline for the future piece of content.Creators must be opted-in to Sprout Social Influencer Marketing to successfully receive email communication about content approval and upload content.

Once the Concept has been uploaded by the Creator, you can mark the Internal Review status as Approved or Disapproved.
From here, you can send it to the Collaborator for approval. If there are no Collaborators, you can approve on the Collaborator's behalf.

If you are working with a Collaborator, be sure to share the Campaign with them via email and set their rights within the Campaign. To do so, head here: Add a Collaborator to a Campaign.

Comments - Within each draft, you can send Comments to the Creator, Collaborator, or Internal team members. This section can be used to relay any edits that may need to be made to the content/caption.

Subscribers/Watchers - You can add team members or Collaborators as Watchers on a specific piece of content. This will notify all watchers when a user, Creator, or Collaborator changes the specified content or the status around it.

Ellipses (three dots) - selecting the ellipsis will offer the following:

  • Rename: Rename the current draft.

  • Delete: Delete the current draft.

  • Add Content Manually: Manually add content to the draft.

  • Skip Content Approval: Skip content approval for Creators.

Link Tracking: If link tracking is part of the Organization's workflow, the link will be found within each post draft. Even if the link is live, you can copy or edit it by hovering over the link and selecting from the menu that populates to the left. As soon as the new or edited link is saved, it goes live.

Bulk selection

The following actions can be performed in bulk:

Comment: You can comment on the drafts, visible to the Creator, Collaborator and/or Internal Team Member. Any comments made to the Creator will be visible to them.

Request: You can request Concept, Content, or Publication from the Creator or the Collaborator to Review, if applicable, from any Collaborators.

Subscribers: You can add or remove Watchers from individual posts.

Due Date: Add a due date to multiple drafts at once.

Delete: Delete multiple drafts at once.
