Influencer Marketing Creator Hub: What is TikTok branded content?

Table of Contents

As a creator, you can turn your TikTok posts into branded content when you use an Invite Link.

Branded content is specifically designed by TikTok specifically to help you maintain transparency and trust with your audience when publishing sponsored content or paid partnerships.

Branded content videos are tagged with a special "Paid Partnership" badge:

Whenever you create or edit a TikTok video, select the Branded content tab in the menu to access post details and settings.

Why should I use the branded content toggle?

The branded content disclosure enables you to:

  • Tag videos and disclose commercial content without disrupting your creative flow
  • Maintain compliance with FTC guidelines
  • Automate metric sharing with your agency or brand partner

Sponsored hashtags, like #Ad, aren’t enough to remain compliant with TikTok’s policies—you must also turn on the branded content toggle. Content containing only the ad hashtag may be removed by TikTok for violating their branded content policy.

How do I use an Invite Link when posting content?

The easiest way to create branded content is to use an Invite Link. This link is automatically generated by Sprout’s Influencer Marketing and takes creators directly to TikTok. Invite Links are shared in the following format: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZTRKWWWKS/

If you've already received a link, click the Invite Link, accept the TikTok Creator Marketplace terms and upload your video.

Your agency or brand partner will provide you with an Invite Link that's unique to your TikTok account and can't be shared with another creator or multiple accounts.

Don't include any giveaways, log-in rewards or similar content in branded posts as this goes against TikTok’s fraud and scam policies. Publishing this type of content could result in a permanent ban of your account.

What if I forgot to use the Invite Link and my content is already live?

You can change your existing piece of content to a Branded Content by requesting that your agency/brand generate a Campaign Code. They can provide you with the Campaign Code and you can add it to your content. To add the Campaign Code:

  1. Click the invite link provided by your brand partner. This brings you to the “Manage your order below” screen where you can also see the name of the campaign.
  2. Scroll down to the deliverables section of the screen. There are up to 10 locations (depending on how many times your invite link has been used) that are available to  associate an existing video with this invite link.
  3. Tap Upload Video in a location in which there isn’t a video associated yet.
  4. Choose “Link existing post” from the pop up list.
  5. Tap the existing post you want to associate to your invite link.

Is using Invite Links safe?

Invite Links generated by Influencer Marketing are 100% secure. Influencer Marketing is a badged TikTok Marketing Partner and is fully compliant with all guidelines.
