How can I use the Super Admin role?
The Super Admin preset role enables multiple Admins to manage roles and permissions in Sprout instead of only relying on an Account Owner. With the Super Admin role, you won’t need to maintain specific additional roles in Sprout or rely on Support to assist with access.
The introduction of this role means that:
- You can onboard Super Admins quickly with a preset role
- You can eliminate the need to manage an additional custom role
- You can eliminate the bottleneck sometimes caused by Account Owners
- You can enable Admins to focus on their jobs to be done rather than administrative tasks
What’s the difference between an Account Owner and a Super Admin?
You might be asking - what’s the difference between a Super Admin and someone that I’ve granted admin privileges to? It’s important to remember that an Account Owner is above a Super Admin because Account Owners have access to billing and managing SSO for your Sprout account. The Super Admins has automatic access to all Groups, Profiles and User Permissions with the exception of billing and SSO.
What about the difference between an Account Owner and someone who I’ve made an Admin with every permission enabled?
If you created your own Admin and assigned all permissions to them, there are some key differences between an Account Owner and a created Admin. A created Admin doesn’t have default access to all Groups and Social Profiles. Every time a new Profile or Group is added, you have to make sure the Admin’s permissions are updated, otherwise they could be locked out of managing roles.
With a preset Super Admin, Super Admins get default access to all Groups and Profiles, but a Super Admin does NOT have Manage Billing or Manage SSO permissions. So if you assigned these permissions to a created Admin, they can manage billing and SSO features that a preset Super Admin can’t.
