Explore Listener Insights

After you create a Listener, it begins gathering data from Twitter so you can easily observe trends, uncover patterns and gauge emotional response with regards to a particular topic, hashtag, brand or industry.
This article will help you understand the Listener Insights available in Sprout Social.
First, select the Listener you'd like to view by clicking on its corresponding tile of the Listener Home screen, or from the list in the left navigation bar.
You can view Listener Insights for any Active or Archived Listener. Archived Listener data will only be available for the time period that the Listener was active.

Navigation Listener Insights

Just like most of Sprout’s reports, Listener Insights are separated into sections with simple-to-digest information.

At any time, you can click Screen_Shot_2017-11-14_at_8.36.50_AM.png in the upper-right corner of the screen to open a glossary about the various sections and their corresponding metrics to better understand how they’re calculated.

At the top of each Listener, you'll see the following icons (if you have Manage profiles & permissions enabled):

Screen_Shot_2017-11-14_at_9.16.02_AM.png - Delete the Listener

Screen_Shot_2017-11-14_at_9.16.16_AM.png - Archive the Listener

In the upper-right corner, you'll see the currently selected timeframe. Click this to choose a new timeframe.

Note: You can only see Listener data from the date the Listener was active. Recently created Listeners may not have data available immediately.

The available sections in Listener Insights are:

Activity Overview

This section gives you insights into message volume statistics, including total potential reach, engagements and average engagements per message.

You can also sort topics and hashtags by sentiment by clicking All, Positive or Negative at the top of the section.

The interactive map provides a high-level overview of where associated Tweets are being published. Reference the heat map to identify high-traffic regions, and use the slider to zoom in and out on the map. Clicking on a country will display the messages published there.

Underneath the map, you'll see the top countries and cities for your query.

Device Demographics

This section helps you quickly identify what devices people are using to publish messages relevant to your Listener, first by Web vs. Mobile, and then by iOS vs. Android.
